1. What is Ninjutsu/Ninpo?
Ninjutsu- pronounced Neen-Jut-su, is a 1000 year old system of self defense,
problem solving, task completion and constantly adaptable life skills. The art
was founded in Japan but has it's earliest roots in India, Tibet and China.
Ninjutsu is the physical and mechanical techniques of the system. Ninpo-
pronounced Neen-Po, is the combination of the techniques, phylosophies,
life skills and self defense as a means to succesfully approach life. A person
who lives by these means is called a Ninja.-pronounced Neen-Ja.
2. Do I need to be fast and strong to excell at this art?
No, this art relies on natural body dynamics, correct bone alignment, gravity,
and momentum. Speed and strenght fade with time, the principles of this art
will endure a life time.
3. Do we spar?
Because this is a self defense system, the techniques we employ are designed to
inflict structural damage and if required, lethal force. Thus, sparring would
be very dangerous. So no, we do not spar.
4. Do we compete in tournaments?
Again, because of the nature of our techniques, it would not be safe to employ
them in tournaments. In addition, tournaments have rules of engagent. Our self
defense system is not restrained by rules. "If it works and puts the user at no
to low risk, then use it!"
5. Can I get injured participating?
As with any physical activity, there is the possibility of getting hurt. To
minimize that risk we maintain constant supervision durring classes and enforce
safe application and speed.
6. Does this art have a belt ranking system?
Yes. The belt system is as follows: White, Yellow, Yellow Black, Blue, Blue
Black, Red, Red Black, Green, Green Black, Black. It takes 3 to 5 years to
reach Black Belt. However, the average is 4 years if a high degree of
discipline, focus, practice, and commitment are maintained.
7. Who can participate in Godai Ryu Ninpo?
Anyone can participate. We suggest that anyone who has concerns about their
physical state of health check with their doctor prior to engaging in any
classes. We respect the physical limitations of all members. Training is
modified to the needs of the individual members when required.
8. What non physical skills will I learn in the Godai Ninpo Club?
You will learn many non physical skills in the club including but not limited
to: Danger Awareness, Threat Detection, Verbal Deecalation, Reading Body
Language, Envirormental Sensetivity, Perspective, Discipline, Focus, Patience,
Self Control and many others.
9. Can I bring a friend to check out the class?
Yes. however if possible, please let the instructor know in advance. This will
allow your friend to take full advantage of the class, and allow the instructor
to design a class session to accomidate new people.
10. What do I do if I miss class?
Regular class attendance is paramount. However, if you miss a class it is
important to make it up as quickly as possible. This is done through a private
lesson with the instructor. All missed classes must be made up before
Advancement Day.
11. How do I wash my uniform and belt?
Wash your uniform in cold water unless you prefer a tighter fit. Be advised
that washing in other teperatures may result in color fading. It is recomended
that you hang the uniform to dry as to decrease shrinkage and maintain
structural integrity. The belt should never be washed! Traditionally, it is
allowed to
accumilate "color" naturally. (through hard work and training.)
12. Can I get another uniform?
Additional uniforms are available through the club for purchase . Prices are
based on size and weight ( ultra lt. wt., lt. wt., med. wt., hvy wt. ).
13. Where do I get my training gear and equipment?
Gear and equipment is available through the club for purchase. We use only the
highest quality gear and equipment. All the items are specifically selected
because they are best suited for our unique training needs.
