Attendance:
Regular class attendance is critical to progressing
in the martial arts. We recomend two hours a week.
If you believe you would benefit from an additional
class, try scheduling a private lesson with the
instructor. You may also find a classmate looking
to do training outside of class time.
Extra Help:
We encourage everyone to find an Uke. ( someone to
help you develop your skills. ) This is an excellent
person to practice with outside of class. If you are
having a challenge with a particular skill, ask the
instructor for additional tips while practicing in
class. If you feel you need additional help, be sure
to bring it to the attention of the instructor.
Training At Home:
Training at home is essential to progressing at any
skill. It is helpful to have a buddy or roommate train
with you to make sure you are practicing regularly.
One to two hours of additional training time per week
at home is recommended. This is where the true training
begins. As your body becomes conditioned, you will
advance more easily. This is a big part of your self
discipline, focus, and commitment in your training!
Reading Sourcess:
A very good source for your training are books. Their
are a host of books written about Ninjutsu/Ninpo that
will help you gain greater insight into the concepts
and principals of the art. As well as the historical
application and origins of techniques. Most of the
books are filled with pictures of techniques and step
by step applications.
Keep A Journal:
It is strongly suggested that each member take notes
at each session. Keeping a journal is an excellent
method for retaining key bits of technique and makes
for great home training material. Write down your
questions and track the answers as your level of competency
in the art increases. You will find new answers to
the same questions as your knowledge increases!- a
good way to gauge your progress.
Be Patient:
Enjoy the ride. The fun is in the learning process.
This is not a race to be run. It will take time to
master, it took centuries to develop.
